Forest Medicine & Consciousness: Plant Wisdom From the Amazon

Three practitioners sit down to discuss what drew them into the world of Amazonian plant medicine—not as tourists, but as students of a lineage older than language. Laylä Föz, alongside Camila and Malu, opens a conversation about ayahuasca and kambô that moves past sensation and into the architecture of these medicines: how they're discovered, how they work, and what they ask of anyone who drinks them.

How Does Indigenous Wisdom Discover Specific Plant Combinations?

One of the most remarkable details in the conversation is the mystery at the heart of Amazonian pharmacology. In the middle of a rainforest containing thousands of plants, indigenous peoples identified two specific species—chacrona and jagube—that, when combined, create ayahuasca: a medicine that has shaped consciousness and healing across centuries. The question Föz poses is simple and profound: how?

One explanation involves close observation of animal behavior. The speaker notes that indigenous peoples may have watched jaguars consuming certain roots and noticed the animals' subsequent state shifts. From there, the work became one of patient experimentation—testing, refining, eventually ritualizing. What started as curiosity became ceremony; what emerged was medicine. This wasn't random trial-and-error across a forest. It was ecological knowledge meeting spiritual intention.

Föz describes participating in an indigenous ritual and asking an elder exactly this question. The elder's response was disarming: "It's a good sign from the forest." In other words, the discovery wasn't solely intellectual or accidental. There's an element of the forest itself offering knowledge to those who listen. This framing—that the medicine reveals itself to those prepared to receive it—runs through the entire conversation.

What Is Kambô and How Does the Frog Ceremony Work?

Kambô, also called sapo in some contexts, is a secretion from a particular species of frog found in the Amazon. Unlike ayahuasca, which is ingested as a brewed tea, kambô is applied directly to the skin, burned into small points, and absorbed through the bloodstream. This is where the medicine becomes visceral.

The procurement of kambô follows a protocol rooted in reciprocity. Practitioners don't harm the frog. Instead, they perform a ritual—a prayer or invocation—that, according to the tradition, calls the frog to appear. Once it does, the secretion is harvested, and the animal is released unharmed. The frog leaves; the medicine remains.

What happens next is what Föz and the others describe as the most physically demanding part of the work. When kambô is applied, there is burning—immediate and intense. The sensation can last anywhere from seconds to several minutes, depending on individual response and dosage. Before the kambô is administered, practitioners drink water—sometimes up to two liters—to prepare the body. What follows is profound purging: vomiting, and sometimes other forms of elimination. Föz describes the experience as her body "treating itself," moving through a primal, almost animalistic response. She fell to her knees, she says, and simply let the medicine move through her system. What came out was described as green, thick matter—tangible evidence, in the view of practitioners, that something toxic or stagnant had been dislodged.

The purging itself is considered the healing mechanism. In the framework of these medicines, the body holds onto blockages—physical, emotional, energetic. Kambô's role is to trigger a complete release. Föz notes that afterward, she slept deeply for two hours, then felt remarkably clear. In some cases, practitioners report not needing to eat for extended periods, experiencing an unusual sense of lightness or purification.

It's important to note that the experience varies widely. Some report it as intense but manageable; others describe it as violent and overwhelming. The conversation acknowledges that while one person might vomit and feel fine afterward, another might experience much more severe purging. This variability is presented not as a flaw but as part of the medicine's intelligence—each person purges what they need to purge.

What Role Does Intention and Diet Play in Preparation?

Throughout the conversation, the speakers emphasize that these medicines are not passive experiences. Preparation involves dietary restrictions—avoiding certain foods, sometimes practicing silence or isolation—and a quality of intention. The medicine is described as responsive. If someone approaches it casually, the results may reflect that. If someone brings clarity, reverence, and a genuine desire to heal or learn, the medicine meets that with depth.

The conversation touches on the importance of working with experienced guides or facilitators. These are people who have studied the traditions, who understand the medicine's nature, and who can hold space for the difficult experiences that often arise. The guides also offer counsel on integration afterward—how to make sense of what happened, how to embody the medicine's teachings in daily life.

What Are the Visions, and What Do They Mean?

When ayahuasca takes effect, visions are common. Föz describes her own experience of encountering snakes—multiple, colorful serpents moving around and through her body. In Amazonian tradition, the snake is considered the power animal of ayahuasca, and the indigenous peoples attribute the medicine's magic to the snake itself, to its capacity to shed skin, to transmute and transform.

What becomes striking in Föz's account is what happened after. A month following her ayahuasca ceremony, her mother was diagnosed with tumors in her throat—the same area where Föz had seen snakes entering and exiting in her vision. The vision showed two snakes; her mother had two tumors. Föz frames this not as coincidence but as information arriving through a non-ordinary channel. The medicine, in this telling, was offering her foreknowledge or warning through symbolic language. Whether this is understood as prophecy, intuition, or some form of subtle communication remains open, but the experience points to what these medicines seem to do: they open channels of perception that ordinary waking consciousness doesn't access.

How Does Ayahuasca Alter the Experience of Time and Consciousness?

One of the most disorienting aspects of ayahuasca, according to the speakers, is its effect on temporal perception. Time becomes non-linear or seemingly absent. Hours can feel like minutes; minutes can expand into what seems like days. Föz describes becoming conscious of this distortion and how destabilizing it can be. She was aware, she says, that she was losing track of time, and there was fear in that—fear of whether she would return to normal consciousness, fear of being lost in a space without the usual anchors.

What emerged from that disorientation, though, was a shift in perspective. She began to see the interconnectedness of everything. The usual boundaries between self and other, between observer and observed, began to dissolve. She felt a profound sense that everything was much more interconnected than ordinary perception suggests. With that came a release of existential fear—a realization that death is not the end but a transformation, a return, part of a larger cycle of birth and rebirth.

This experience of non-linear time and deep interconnectedness is presented as one of the medicine's primary teachings. It's not just an odd sensation; it's information about the actual nature of reality, according to the framework being discussed. We live as if time is linear and solid, as if we are separate beings in a fragmented universe. These medicines, the speakers suggest, show us something closer to how things actually are.

Are These Medicines Dangerous, and What Are the Contraindications?

The conversation acknowledges that these are serious practices with real risks. Föz mentions that certain people—those with serious psychiatric conditions or specific health vulnerabilities—should approach these medicines with caution or not at all. The medicines can trigger intense emotional release, and if someone is already fragile, the intensity can be destabilizing rather than healing.

The speakers also note that these are not medicines for curiosity or recreation. They demand respect, proper facilitation, and a genuine commitment to integration. To approach them otherwise is to risk wasting the opportunity or, worse, to harm oneself through misuse.

What Is the Purpose of Integration After the Experience?

One theme that emerges throughout the conversation is that the medicine itself is only part of the work. What happens after—integration—may be equally important. The visions, the purging, the consciousness shifts: these need to be understood, embodied, and woven into daily life. Otherwise, the medicine becomes an isolated peak experience rather than a transformative process.

Föz mentions that facilitators and teachers help with this integration—offering frameworks to understand what arose, how to metabolize the experience, and how to carry its teachings into the ordinary world. A single ceremony might reveal something profound, but living from that revelation requires intention, practice, and often ongoing work.

Where to go from here

If this conversation resonates with you, the next steps depend on where you are in your own journey. If you're curious about these medicines, seek out educators and facilitators who approach them with reverence and thorough training. Read accounts from practitioners who have worked with these medicines over years, not just days. Understand the historical and cultural context—these are not new discoveries but part of lineages that span centuries in indigenous communities.

If you're already familiar with these medicines, the invitation here is to deepen your understanding of the wisdom traditions they come from, to recognize that the medicines themselves are teachers asking specific things of us: respect, preparation, integration, and a willingness to be changed by what we learn. The conversation between Föz, Camila, and Malu models this approach—they speak not as experts dispensing knowledge but as practitioners continuing to learn, honoring both the medicines and the indigenous peoples who have preserved this wisdom.

[0:00] [Music] very beautiful, I transferred them to another witch top.

[0:10] This measure brought my two

[0:13] favorite witches, Camila and Malu. You must have

[0:16] seen them in my strike rehearsal or

[0:18] either of the two times, and today

[0:20] we're going to talk a little about

[0:21] forest medicine, which they are

[0:24] perfect, very wonderful. I know, a

[0:27] total of 10 percent compared to them,

[0:29] but the police, other cells, to tell

[0:31] my students

[0:36] already by name, right? Euros, I knew her, she

[0:40] was in the past

[0:42] physically, but I just... it's the

[0:49] first time I'll get sugar

[0:52] in 2015. He remembers that one of the first

[0:56] things I saw, like, oh, there she

[0:58] appeared in front of me. I never had a

[1:00] photo with her, and then I went to talk to her,

[1:03] I asked if she already had a photo for

[1:06] me, sugar, and we had a

[1:09] quick conversation, but it didn't generate much beyond

[1:12] that. And last year we met, and

[1:15] since then we've been getting closer. We met

[1:18] Camila soon

[1:21] after, which was last year, Tomás

[1:25] Costa, since last year,

[1:27] someone forgot, I was going to Hawaii,

[1:29] and I'm still going, pause, but I never

[1:32] [Music]

[1:33] did A trip, two traveled, point there in

[1:37] possession, and it was also how I met you,

[1:39] you were the first trip there in Ubatuba,

[1:42] people, it's at times like these that I arrive, thank

[1:45] God that I made it happen, and it wasn't like that, it

[1:47] was very crazy. I remember

[1:48] when I met you, it was like, nobody

[1:50] knows, still doubts, the University of

[1:51] Hawaii,

[1:52] and then we met and you

[1:54] told me, feminine, you'll need a

[1:55] house to stay there, and then, like, the session was detained,

[1:58] where two days later you appeared,

[2:00] like, at my house,

[2:04] only now, at the house,

[2:06] let's go, but how many times have you already taken

[2:10] Gaza?

[2:11] I don't know, I think, but 9 - maybe 8 at

[2:16] night, it's also just one concept, and the frog,

[2:19] last year that you and I, I don't know, from

[2:22] 2015,

[2:24] in the beginning I went quite a lot, I think

[2:26] once a month or once every two months,

[2:28] it's more 20,

[2:30] I think there must be more chances around there

[2:35] now, having a lower frequency, but in my

[2:38] first years I went more times, but it

[2:41] must be around 20 now, who

[2:43] can explain better what

[2:45] Alaska is? It's a tea made from two plants from the

[2:50] Amazon rainforest, chacrona and jagube,

[2:53] discovered. According to the indigenous people,

[2:55] this is a really cool thing because in the

[2:57] middle of the Amazon, among thousands of

[3:00] plants that exist, how do they

[3:01] expect to discover exactly the loas? You

[3:03] know, including the guy

[3:07] I made the video with

[3:09] last week, he said that the indigenous people

[3:11] lived with jaguars that ate

[3:15] certain roots, and they were there, right,

[3:18] transcending in strength and everything else,

[3:21] and they started to realize something was happening, and there's

[3:23] something to the roots, let's prove

[3:26] this thing, it's up

[3:27] to them to prove it, and it turned into a

[3:29] ritual, it became medicine.

[3:31] I once participated in a

[3:33] ritual with the indigenous people about the field, and

[3:36] the indigenous person, I just said to me, I really wanted to

[3:37] know how they discovered that they

[3:38] have to do all this to feel all

[3:40] this, it's a good sign from the forest, which is

[3:44] exactly kambô, any process, I

[3:46] know, but it's

[3:47] a secretion from the frog that the

[3:50] indigenous people make, you didn't misunderstand,

[3:52] right?

[3:53] They make the rest in the middle of the forest

[3:54] to contract it because it doesn't appear

[3:56] all the time, they do a summary

[3:58] prayer and the frog appears, and they remove it, the

[4:01] question is, the frog doesn't die,

[4:02] everything is fine, and They let it out, although they

[4:04] pay for the secretion, they do what needs to be done

[4:07] directly into the bloodstream, so it

[4:08] burns, it's a daughter, you can see it,

[4:11] they burn, it

[4:12] depends on three or five, it depends on

[4:16] who you're with when consecrating, they

[4:17] pass the secretion, and this is an impact of

[4:20] your Bible book, which is a liquid that

[4:22] stays there for a long time, maybe a lifetime, it's already

[4:25] in you, cleansing your

[4:26] Bible book and the field cleans, it has

[4:29] always been very good. I talked to a

[4:31] friend of mine, he's the same guy, he also

[4:33] did all this, and then he told me that it

[4:37] 's very good, many people do it when it's a

[4:39] serious health problem that needs

[4:40] purging, so it's super linked to the

[4:43] physical body, in that line of being good

[4:45] for your immune system, it's like

[4:48] a new vaccine, but much more

[4:51] potent and natural. And when I consecrated it on an empty stomach,

[4:56] I didn't even feel the need to eat because

[4:57] I felt so clean, so clean that

[4:59] I said, wow, I was just throwing it, I mean, it's

[5:03] not like that, after that, after I did the

[5:06] ritual of the field, I was there in Chapada

[5:09] Diamantina and I stayed awake for three days,

[5:11] like energy, and so the escape, a

[5:15] lot of energy enters, I didn't sleep.

[5:19] It's still happening during the semi-pregnancy period, and it's

[5:22] logical that as soon as it passes, you feel like it's

[5:25] burning because it burns, and the IC6

[5:28] starts like that, the poison enters, and for me,

[5:32] at least, it was a matter of like five

[5:34] seconds. I was standing like this, I just

[5:36] fell to my knees and started vomiting

[5:38] because before that you have to take two in the

[5:41] water area without drinking two liters

[5:43] of water, and then it's a very physical thing,

[5:46] I felt, I felt my body,

[5:49] that animalistic thing, you know, like that,

[5:52] I just want to leave. I just fell on all fours, and

[5:55] like, my body treated me, the time

[5:58] valued, yeah, and then you just vomit everything, and it

[6:03] comes out, like, you just drink water before, right? So, like, it's a

[6:06] water thing, and then it came out, for me, it

[6:10] came out in butts, but green lumps, like,

[6:14] tibi, ethical, billion, the things you feel, it was

[6:17] there for a long time, and it's kind of

[6:20] crazy. When it was over,

[6:22] I took a nap for about two hours,

[6:24] then after three days awake,

[6:26] I felt very good, just like any other day, right?

[6:29] I think you don't

[6:32] necessarily feel sick like that, you can vomit, I went back

[6:34] to mine, but it says it can be much worse, the

[6:37] situation of purging... Penha is the one who speaks,

[6:40] and it can also be calm, and I think I wo

[6:42] n't lie, if you've ever taken it, you've never

[6:43] visited. The first time I did,

[6:45] I was completely fine. I took it, but it was

[6:48] very funny. The first time I did, it did

[6:49] n't have any effect, like, I don't know, a thousand

[6:52] hours there, it didn't have any effect. It was a pilot and

[6:56] a night and eclipse. I was there seeing

[6:59] the moon like that, and I told the program that I

[7:02] was doing Neymar and nothing, that in life

[7:08] nothing is nothing, to him, calm, calm. I

[7:13] just stopped for a little bit, maybe God, and

[7:15] served the second dose too. The second

[7:17] dose, I

[7:18] just went back to the milking parlor again, I'm going to be

[7:20] breathing, I started breathing consciously, out of

[7:22] nowhere, when I saw it, it started selling

[7:24] all the things,

[7:25] all the effect, like the power animal of

[7:28] ayahuasca, the snake is a serpent, and the

[7:31] Amazonian Indians say that the magic of

[7:32] ayahuasca was an agency of the snake,

[7:34] of buoyancy, that you can only

[7:37] relate to Hinduism, it's with the

[7:38] line, a snake, so it's like, it's perfect,

[7:42] and I saw several colorful snakes around

[7:44] me, and wow, it was very beautiful, it was very

[7:47] pleasant, I wasn't with

[7:48] Fear, you know, snakes usually scare me,

[7:52] right? I also feel scared, but I

[7:55] always see that it's normal to be able to do

[7:57] various meditations, with or

[8:01] without any substance. One thing

[8:03] that comes across as very crazy to me was

[8:05] that I would close my eyes and see the snake. It's a

[8:08] snake in the Egyptian world, even though it

[8:10] was mild and all, but as I told you,

[8:12] I saw many snakes going in and out of

[8:14] my throat. And because, like, what

[8:17] 's already my throat, baby,

[8:20] a month later my mother was diagnosed

[8:23] with a tumor in her throat, and like, remember

[8:26] that she had a snake eating a

[8:28] black thing from my throat?

[8:31] That's very crazy, and I remembered the

[8:32] phrase "two snakes," one going in and one coming out

[8:34] and vice versa. My mother had two

[8:36] tumors, so in action, two little balls make it

[8:39] shocking, really shocked Edson, and the snakes

[8:42] again help in the language, transmute,

[8:44] ethernet, years, it's a way because each

[8:48] person goes through a type of cleansing,

[8:49] so it may be a limit to what

[8:52] you asked. I think in 20 times

[8:54] that I consecrated, I vomited only twice.

[8:57] For me, my cleansing has always been...

[8:59] More crying and, like, some

[9:04] calmer things, but the hospital, and it only happens

[9:07] twice, so we

[9:09] lose track of time too, right?

[9:11] Normally it lasts 58 hours, it depends, it

[9:15] depends on the ritual, on how

[9:17] the person is guiding it, because it

[9:20] could be a short ritual that

[9:23] lasts 45 hours, or there are

[9:25] long rituals that can last 12 hours

[9:28] or even days, and it was directed to the young person, the

[9:32] day, or even... what do you call that, my

[9:34] coffin, which isn't even that, the search for

[9:36] violence, taking consecration, the medicine for

[9:38] several days until you really find

[9:40] your purpose here, it's not quite that, it's

[9:44] very relative to the person who is

[9:46] guiding it, but it may seem crazy, like

[9:49] you being there for a thousand hours,

[9:51] but it's that this notion of time that we

[9:54] have is linear, right?

[9:57] And when we are in the force, a

[10:00] totally psychic vision of time, like, I don't know, it's

[10:02] inspiring, you have no

[10:06] notion of the penal code or even my

[10:13] life, I was so worried

[10:15] about time, I think I got into

[10:17] something very good that I could even prove

[10:18] a winner, I said,

[10:20] once I got into it. I was

[10:21] in heaven and I was just having

[10:24] orgasms there for hours,

[10:26] for now, people,

[10:27] I want to get off the list and it appears, I

[10:32] said, my god, told me here, gem in note,

[10:34] the number prescribed, but it's a long time,

[10:36] let me go back, and it was the only time in

[10:38] my life that I worried about time,

[10:39] but then in November, when time is

[10:41] worried about Esther, it's exact, it's cool, my

[10:45] last ritual, a mushroom that I even

[10:48] bought for you, it was at the last store, it's

[10:50] such that also has a lot, right? I do

[10:52] n't know if we got to explain, but

[10:54] basically in Alaska there's a lot that

[10:58] we produce, it's already produced by our

[11:00] brain and such, since they also produce

[11:02] enzymes that inhibit the effect of

[11:04] dying in our body, so the

[11:05] biggest connection we take are two roots,

[11:07] one will help us inhibit these

[11:10] enzymes and the other will bring more a lot

[11:12] present, and then stimulate more a lot

[11:15] producers,

[11:17] the plant that the leaf has a lot, and the

[11:20] top so it doesn't break, or deliriums that

[11:23] last a long time, exactly, that's it,

[11:26] as it's also obvious that it's different, it would

[11:29] stop, but there's also that, so you can also

[11:31] do healing rituals, including the

[11:33] People say that I think tomorrow

[11:35] we were commenting that they

[11:36] consider a melo brother spirit of the

[11:39] tobacco brother is the singer Bolito grandfather in

[11:44] May in vogue the father although the father pays a

[11:47] root of an African plant found

[11:48] in North Africa that the records

[11:50] consecrated is and then we really

[11:53] got to the moment when I went to another

[11:55] realm that I had never been to without kind of

[11:57] seeing other beings all but was in the

[11:59] place where to do a human sacrifice

[12:01] so like that but it's basic it was a little too much

[12:06] and then I'm with this guy who

[12:09] because he is my complementary people in

[12:10] all signs are betting everything and

[12:12] TV on everything in life if including not

[12:14] messing up so much that every time we

[12:16] were exposed to something he

[12:18] cried I was like only those who have worked

[12:20] in the same thing was always the post we

[12:21] we started to spill blood

[12:23] such just from patients with seven hours

[12:27] lying in the bottom of sacrifice in

[12:29] hell looking at a bunch of creatures around

[12:30] us that didn't even exist in this thing that

[12:33] I say is the [ __ ] it ended up ending and

[12:36] looked at like without this here it's kind of a

[12:38] loop that no success time

[12:40] internal circular like that looked at him was

[12:42] talking with him, my god, where is he? And

[12:44] he's also conscious and

[12:47] I'd go to my world, look at

[12:48] sacred geometry, bar fight, announce that she

[12:50] haunts me, Jan

[12:51] returned, the towel is here, and now what are

[12:53] we going to do? It's never going to end, it just

[12:55] happened, 190 loops since it arrived, a

[12:58] time of problems, but wait, I think I'll never leave here, then

[13:01] we started to consider this,

[13:02] smaller turn, it gave because I also believe

[13:06] that time is and isn't linear, I think it

[13:08] has verticality, and we transit our

[13:10] consciousness within ourselves vertically at a

[13:13] certain rhythm,

[13:15] determined frequencies in a

[13:18] time order, just because it's more comfortable for

[13:19] being human, but I was saying now I've lost

[13:23] the ability to put my

[13:25] consciousness where I want it, because

[13:27] forever the agents interested, I

[13:30] was sure I would never leave there, it

[13:32] was never exactly the time of

[13:35] completely losing the notion, and then I got

[13:37] worried, it's complicated because if

[13:39] we enter the mind in a process like this,

[13:41] of medicine or anything,

[13:43] our mind will always want, like, 'no,

[13:45] you have to be here,' we're like,

[13:47] going to stay in this place, like, 'my god, where do

[13:50] I have to be now?' and the mind, which is

[13:52] the despair of, my god, I I'm not going

[13:53] back anymore if I've lost consciousness

[13:55] forever. Two have already gone through this,

[13:58] for sure. My first trip, my

[14:00] first victory, was in relation to...

[14:03] There was a moment when I was

[14:05] very cold and I was already wrapped up in

[14:08] blankets, I was sure I had a

[14:10] high fever, and I just lay down

[14:13] and that fear hit me, you know, like,

[14:16] I think I'm going to die, woman, very

[14:20] well... and then I stayed there, I realized I did

[14:24] n't have to do it, like, well, you

[14:26] died, like real Brian women fell,

[14:30] exactly, and that's when I just, like,

[14:33] closed my eyes and it was like, well, let's see

[14:36] then, loves, let's

[14:37] go to it... I feel totally like this,

[14:40] I felt my body leaving, like, I

[14:44] was getting up, getting up, getting up and

[14:46] leaving the earth, and I had a vision that

[14:50] I was as if I were centered on the moon,

[14:52] looking at the whole universe, and I felt a

[14:55] presence with me, like, God, I don't know, the

[14:58] universe, I felt this presence

[15:02] kind of showing me, like, look how

[15:05] life is much more than what

[15:07] you think it is, like, your life, like,

[15:11] I'm going to die, it's much more than that,

[15:13] everything is much more interconnected, and it was

[15:16] such a good experience. It was a kind of ecstasy

[15:18] that I felt, like, "If I died,

[15:22] if this is dying, I'm so happy, you know?"

[15:25] Because it's wonderful, it's not something to be

[15:28] afraid of, you know? And then when I

[15:31] came back, everything makes you realize that you're

[15:33] not going to die, and you realize that it's

[15:37] actually a symbolic death. It's the death of

[15:39] various fears and behaviors that

[15:42] you usually have, various

[15:44] issues you have with

[15:46] yourself, that die. Because that's what these

[15:48] healing rituals bring: poetry, death,

[15:51] and rebirth. Because in reality, a

[15:53] better condition of life, also much

[15:55] more catalyzed. So it's very easy for

[15:57] us to understand the whole process there,

[16:00] like in a moment. But it's not that the person

[16:02] who doesn't consecrate this won't have a

[16:05] process. It's in the room, in the

[16:07] family, a process, girl, and it also

[16:10] often helps us accelerate a

[16:12] process. If you were stuck

[16:16] in something, it's a mediation, it's

[16:20] a way, but of course, if you're a

[16:22] girl, it's another way.

[16:23] And suddenly, part of the street, that

[16:27] thing that would take you years if it weren't for

[16:29] this, exactly. But that's it, an aunt

[16:32] is already saying that it's a man whose

[16:34] work I admire very much. He has all this

[16:35] spiritual work, and he didn't

[16:37] take anything; he only had everything through

[16:40] meditation, which was his path. He

[16:43] said that one day he received a message that he had to

[16:44] take something. I think he had to take it. I

[16:45] think he also went to the sugar, and the

[16:48] definition he gives is very beautiful

[16:50] because he says it's

[16:51] simply the plant clearing the

[16:53] paths within yourself so

[16:54] that you can see yourself better. So it's very much like that; it's

[16:57] like us clearing our fears and

[16:59] clearing this place of limitations,

[17:01] clearing the walls that we ourselves

[17:03] wanted for ourselves so that we can

[17:05] really perceive our size.

[17:06] Because we talk about expanding, but

[17:08] we are gigantic;

[17:09] we don't realize that, right? We don't

[17:11] have access to all of this province and nine

[17:14] percent of our unconscious, which

[17:16] we normally don't have access to.

[17:19] Many of these tools give access to

[17:22] ourselves, to parts of ourselves that we

[17:24] don't connect with. Well, a lot more. Well, I

[17:28] think I have a question that

[17:29] many people have; it's quite simple, and well,

[17:32] maybe it's obvious to you, but I think

[17:35] people are curious. Is there

[17:37] fear of dying? I thought before taking it, "Oh my

[17:39] god, what if I die?" Even in Mt, there were

[17:41] also aspects of fear. So, first, I

[17:44] went to the electoral strategy, your fear of

[17:46] speaking, I'm going there, you're ready to die

[17:48] in November.

[17:50] Look, I'm not going to say it works or it doesn't, it's that you can't

[17:53] talk about the other person's process.

[17:57] I think it's important, yes, I

[17:59] was afraid when it was bigger, and sometimes even

[18:01] today, sometimes I'm afraid because it's

[18:02] normal,

[18:03] right? It's not the process

[18:05] of your unconscious again, of an unknown person,

[18:07] but things to be aware of in the ritual,

[18:10] we guide the person who is receiving

[18:12] this ritual, where it will be appropriate,

[18:14] preferably in a place where you can't even

[18:15] hear cars nearby,

[18:17] a place in nature, because when you

[18:19] are in nature, the noise, the singing of the

[18:21] birds makes a gigantic difference

[18:23] in your process, and your diet, before

[18:27] the diet, which normally involves no

[18:29] alcohol, light food, everything else, you do this

[18:34] calmly, with an open heart and with

[18:35] purpose, that way

[18:36] you don't die. I think it's a

[18:38] very important thing for everyone to

[18:40] know that there is indeed an issue that makes it

[18:45] dangerous, it's a reactive

[18:48] body, you see, but it's exactly that for

[18:50] people who take medication, if that's not

[18:53] allowed at all,

[18:55] then I'm active, you see, I'm taking

[18:59] black label medication, without antidepressants,

[19:02] anxiolytics, in short, any medication. This is

[19:04] for the head and psychiatric patients,

[19:07] this is a total restriction for

[19:10] anyone, anywhere, who takes it. They will

[19:12] talk about this restriction, it's

[19:15] something that has to be taken very seriously

[19:16] because it's a chemical issue that

[19:19] can affect the medication and the

[19:22] native compounds of the medicine,

[19:25] this is very dangerous. So, if you

[19:27] feel called to want to take it,

[19:30] but you take the medicine, wait, you know, don't

[19:33] lie to follow your

[19:36] guide,

[19:37] don't do anything that could really put you in a position to do something

[19:39] serious. But well,

[19:42] very beautiful, I think this video gives a

[19:44] little bit of what's concluded, a fulfiller

[19:46] reveals complex things after a long book is fulfilled,

[19:49] but anyway, subscribe to the channel,

[19:52] leave your like, we'll end here and

[19:54] we'll make another little video talking

[19:56] about other medicines since we

[19:58] couldn't talk about everything, so bye,

[20:01] subscribe, we'll see you in the next one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ayahuasca is a tea made from two Amazonian plants—chacrona and jagube—ingested orally and known for producing visions and altered states of consciousness. Kambô is a secretion from a specific frog species, applied topically to burned points on the skin, and primarily used for physical purging and immune system stimulation. Both are considered medicines in indigenous traditions, not recreational drugs.
The discovery appears rooted in ecological observation—noticing animals like jaguars consuming specific roots and observing behavioral changes. Through careful experimentation and spiritual inquiry, indigenous peoples identified that chacrona and jagube, when combined, create a powerful medicine. The process is framed as the forest itself revealing knowledge to those prepared to receive it.
After kambô is applied to burned points on the skin, there is intense burning followed by rapid purging—usually vomiting and other forms of elimination. Practitioners drink water beforehand to prepare the body. The experience can be physically intense, and what's expelled is considered toxins or stagnation being released. Most people rest deeply afterward and report feeling cleansed.
These are serious medicines requiring proper preparation, intention, and experienced facilitation. They are generally not recommended for people with serious psychiatric conditions or certain health vulnerabilities. They should never be approached casually or as recreational drugs—they demand respect, proper guidance, and commitment to integration afterward.
Experiences vary widely, but serpents or snakes are frequently reported, particularly in Amazonian traditions where the snake is considered ayahuasca's power animal. Many people experience shifts in consciousness—feelings of deep interconnectedness, non-linear time, dissolution of ego boundaries, and confrontation with existential themes like death and rebirth.
The medicine itself is only the beginning. Integration—making sense of visions, processing emotional releases, and embodying the teachings in daily life—is equally important. Without it, the experience remains isolated rather than becoming genuinely transformative. Many practitioners work with guides to help integrate their experiences.
Föz describes seeing snakes entering and exiting her throat during an ayahuasca ceremony. A month later, her mother was diagnosed with tumors in her throat. Rather than coincidence, she interprets this as the medicine offering information through symbolic, non-ordinary channels—a form of communication that bridges multiple layers of reality.
