Nearly 4,000 people gathered at Dubai's Coca Cola Arena in late September 2026 to sing sacred names together—the first kirtan concert ever held in the United Arab Emirates. For Radhika Das and the team that spent 2.5 years bringing it to life, the moment represented something profound: a door opening.
Kirtan—devotional chanting—requires more than a good venue and an audience to land somewhere for the first time. Radhika Das's gratitude in the wake of the concert pointed to the layers involved: the UAE government; the promoter who believed in the vision; her management team, who worked for 2.5 years behind the scenes; the local kirtan community that already existed and was waiting for this moment; the musicians and everyone who prepared the experience.
That timeline—2.5 years—tells its own story. It speaks to the work of cultural relationship-building, of proving that a practice rooted in devotion could be welcomed in a place where it had never been formally presented before. The venue itself matters: the Coca Cola Arena is a major international concert space, the kind of place that hosts established acts. Kirtan taking its place there signals something shifting in how spiritual practices move across geographies.
Nearly 4,000 worshippers showed up. That's not just an audience; it's evidence that people in Dubai had been waiting for this door to open, that there was appetite and community ready to participate the moment it became possible.
