Chad Foreman is a meditation teacher and former Buddhist monk, and the founder of The Way of Meditation. He spent six years living in a retreat hut in a Buddhist community in Australia, studying and practising meditation full time. His Insight Timer page names his Tibetan guru there as Khensur Rinpoche. He has been teaching meditation since 2003.
His approach draws on the wisdom of Buddhist philosophy and is presented as spiritual but not religious. It rests on present-centred awareness, a kind heart and an open mind. He teaches mindfulness, loving kindness, relaxation breath-work, self-inquiry and non-dual awareness. He treats calming the nervous system as a foundation for deeper meditation. People who work with him describe a sense of humour, warmth and an easygoing style that makes ancient techniques easy to understand.
Chad offers online courses, private meditation coaching, free guided meditations and retreats in Queensland's Sunshine Coast Hinterland. He has also taught workshops around Australia and around the world, appeared on dozens of podcasts, and designed the online 21 Day Meditation Challenge. He has written hundreds of articles on meditation, including pieces on equanimity, effort and effortlessness, and sky wisdom. He has also released a deck of meditation cards built around sky wisdom, a teaching from Tibetan Buddhism. He has kept his own daily practice for over 20 years.
Worth Knowing
Chad Foreman is a meditation teacher and former Buddhist monk who spent six years in intensive retreat practice at a Buddhist community in Australia, studying directly under his guru Khensur Rinpoche before transitioning to public teaching in 2003. He founded The Way of Meditation as a vehicle for sharing the insights gained from two decades of continuous personal practice alongside his teaching work. Unlike many contemporary meditation teachers who approach the practice purely through neuroscience or secular mindfulness frameworks, Foreman situates his work explicitly within Buddhist philosophy—yet presents it as spiritual rather than religious, making ancient techniques accessible to students who might be skeptical of institutional spirituality. His reputation rests on a combination of serious training credentials (the six-year monastic immersion is substantial) and a notably warm, humorous teaching style that demystifies the often-intimidating landscape of meditation practice. People who engage with his work consistently note how his easygoing approach to non-dual awareness and present-centered attention doesn't feel esoteric or removed from real life, but grounded in practical nervous-system work and genuine warmth.
