Krystle Stevenson is a Connecticut painter who makes art inspired by nature as she experiences it with all of her senses. Working in acrylic, watercolor and gouache, she paints the stories of each season, aiming to capture the moment while keeping it timeless. Her work spans abstract and illustrative pieces.
Born in 1984, she took a meandering path to art. She earned an MSA from the University of Connecticut School of Business and worked as a financial professional before turning to the curiosity and exploration she had always felt drawn to. She has made fine art full time since 2020. Her work has found a loyal collector base along the East Coast and has gained gallery representation. She has also built a network of female artists whose camaraderie and mentorship she cherishes.
Her practice rests on exploration, curiosity and finding a meditative flow state in which art can pass through her onto the page. She lets intuition guide the way her body moves, the marks she makes and the colors she chooses, so the work blends into play. She hopes viewers feel lightness, wonder and hope, and that her paintings invite conversation about our interdependence with nature and with each other. She has described leaning into her art practice as part of her own mental and physical healing.
Krystle lives in central Connecticut with her husband, three sons and a rescue dog. Her home studio has four large windows and sits close to her organic gardens, where she grows native pollinator plants, vegetables and seasonal New England fruit. She tries to live and work in tune with nature, using archival, sustainably minded materials and low-waste habits, and she keeps learning how to do better.
