Kirtan Singer · Pacific Palisades, California, United States
Govind Das is a kirtan leader and Bhakti Yoga teacher, and the Director of Bhakti Yoga Shala. He has played harmonium for more than twenty years and leads devotional mantra chanting, the ancient Bhakti Yoga practice of kirtan, rooted in the Bhakti tradition.
The Shala follows the teachings of the saint Neem Karoli Baba, who celebrated all Gods as one. It describes Bhakti as the yoga of love, gratitude and devotion. Its offerings include yoga, kirtan, yin and restorative classes, breathwork, trance dance and sound healing, and it welcomes anyone and everyone. He signs the Shala's channel message "With love + gratitude, Govind Das and Radha."
Govind Das teaches others to lead kirtan. His trainings explore the philosophy of Bhakti Yoga and the chants of the tradition on the harmonium. He also leads pilgrimage retreats to India. By his own account he first went to India in 1999 and has been there 24 times, leading 18 spiritual retreats. He calls himself a "humble guide" through a land he describes as holy for the Bhakti Yogi. Those retreats move through Rishikesh, Kainchi Dham and Vrindavan, with sunrise and sunset kirtan, meditation and Bhakti Vinyasa yoga.
With Rama Chandra Das, he hosts The Love Everyone Podcast. It is a conversation about Bhakti Yoga, kirtan, Hanuman, Neem Karoli Baba and walking the path of devotion. Each episode takes up a line of the Hanuman Chalisa and the teachings of the Bhakti saints, and asks how to bring them into daily life.
