説明
Anatomy in Action is a 50 hour yoga teacher training held online, led by Caroline Layzell, for yoga teachers and dedicated practitioners who want to understand anatomy as something they can see, feel and use in class. It runs as a live and pre-recorded hybrid over eight weeks, moving from functional anatomy through the spine and limbs to sequencing for real bodies. The emphasis is on practical application rather than memorising muscles.
What to Expect
The training is built around six modules, each building on the last. It begins with functional anatomy and individual variation: why bodies differ, what influences range of motion through compression and tension, and how to observe and recognise common compensations. Teaching function over aesthetic alignment is a thread from the start.
The second module looks at breath, core and spine, including the diaphragm, pelvic floor, psoas, natural spinal curves and the relationship between breath, nervous system regulation and muscle tone. Modules three and four turn to the hips, knees and ankles, then the shoulders, elbows and wrists, covering skeletal variation, structural versus soft tissue limitation, scapular movement, and weight-bearing shapes such as plank, chaturanga and arm balances.
Module five breaks down forward bends, backbends, twists, standing postures, arm balances and inversions, asking what is stretching, strengthening and stabilising in each. Asana labs and movement explorations help the material be felt rather than only read. The final module brings it together in intelligent sequencing, warm-ups and progressive loading, injury prevention through class design, and adapting for different bodies and abilities.
Seven live Zoom calls anchor the training, with hands-on techniques, guided practice, nervous system work and integration. Short pre-recorded lessons support the live sessions, and pre-recorded Yin Yoga practices let you embody the work in your own time. Replays are always available, so you can move through it around your schedule.
About Caroline Layzell
Caroline Layzell is a Yoga Alliance registered E-RYT 500 who has taught yoga since 2011. She came to yoga from a competitive running background, wanting to understand her body after repeated injuries from long distance and track events. Her teaching blends modern anatomy, functional movement and nervous system science with Yin Yoga and Traditional Chinese Medicine, grounded in both science and spirit. She believes every body is unique and encourages curiosity and embodied understanding over striving for perfect shapes. Her classes are known for detailed, body-part-focused explanation and thoughtful sequencing, and she mentors yoga teachers in refining their sequencing and deepening their anatomy knowledge.
Caroline describes more than 15 years of teaching and has shared anatomy, Yin Yoga and teacher training modules with teachers internationally since 2016. She names study with Paul Grilley, Jo Phee, Tiffany Cruikshank, Jason Crandell and Noah Maze among her influences.
